What are fillings?

How do I know if a filling is the best option for me?

A filling is usually your best option when decay is detected early and is limited to the outer layers of your tooth. Your dentist reviews X-rays, examines the size and location of the damage, and checks the tooth’s strength and sensitivity. 

If the tooth is mostly intact and the decay hasn’t reached the nerve, a filling is often recommended.

In some cases, if the tooth is too compromised, extraction may be considered. The goal is to choose the option that preserves long-term oral health, not just the quickest fix.
